This section highlights how Southeast Asian Americans have tried to maintain cultural practices and the challenges of doing so, as well as how new cultural practices are being formed. Like other immigrant groups, Southeast Asians have tried to transplant their cultural practices to the United States. They do so to bring back memories of their homeland, to pass on traditions to their children, and to preserve ancient practices. Traditional materials and settings cannot always be found or recreated in the American context, however, so cultural traditions have been transformed and altered accordingly.
